Eligible Students

Any child who is a resident of the city of Portland is eligible to apply to attend. Trillium Charter school is allowed by law to admit non-district resident students to a quantity up to 20% of its total current year's enrollment. Non-resident students will be admitted after all Portland district resident students applying have been placed. Students with Individual Education Plans and/or handicapping conditions will be served in cooperation with Portland Public Schools.

Lottery

If space is limited, admission will be determined by the use of a State required lottery of eligible candidates. Priority will be given to siblings of currently enrolled students. The admissions process will begin January 1st with application packets available, information sessions, teacher open house and published material. Applications will be taken from January 1st until April 1st. This group of applicants will make up the lottery pool. The lottery will take place April 19th 2010 and students will be notified of their status via letters mailed May 3rd-May 7th, 2010.
Students will be given a raw number and a random number chart will be used to select numbers for admission. The totally random selection will ensure fairness without regard to ethnicity, national origin, disability, gender, income level, English proficiency, athletic ability or past academic performance. The governing board will perform the lottery and it will be part of the school record.

Waiting List

Students applying after April 1st will be admitted on a space available basis. A waiting list will be established for those not selected. Position on the waiting list will be determined during the initial lottery process for applications received before the application deadline. The list will be maintained until the end of the current school year - they will not carry over from year to year. Trillium may admit students on a space available basis after the start of the school year in certain cases but our policy prohibits admissions after January 1st for the current school year.
Applicants submitting after the deadline will be placed on the list based upon date of application. Applicants will be notified of their position on the waiting list and spaces will be filled in numerical order from the list.

Non-Discrimination Policy

No student, employee, or applicant for employment at Trillium Charter School shall, on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, or disability, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any employment or educational program or activity.
