K – 1 Program

The Trillium K, 1, 2 program focuses on developing Independence, Community Membership, and Academic Fluency. These focus areas take shape in the classroom in a variety of ways, including term-long projects which incorporate field trips, art, writing, book-making, and math. The terms culminate with a project night where students show their work to parents and community members.

Independence

Students have important roles to play in classroom, school, neighborhood, city,
regional, and the world community. When students meet their rights and
responsibilities as community members they increase a personal sense of
belonging while contributing to the success of a culturally diverse, socially just,
ecologically sustainable, and democratic society.

Academic Fluency

Students need to master certain academic skills in order to achieve success in their
lives. These skills help provide the foundation for current and future learning in
their lifelong pursuit of knowledge.
